After months of careful planning and execution, the 108 meter sandstone wall Gary Dennison is proud to call the product of his own blood, sweat and beers is nearing completion. The sheer magnitude of this wall, which weighs almost 200 tonnes, is impressive. The look is unique and it is a piece of work that will last for hundreds of years. As a knowledgeable stone merchant said upon inspecting the wall, “This is completely unique, there is no other wall the same as this in the world. You should be very proud of your work.”

The Capstones Near Completion

Below are pictures of the sandstone wall my apprentice, Alex Brennan, and I built on the harbour at Seaforth, a tricky job at the top of large sandstone bedrocks, but tricky is fun.
- The front wall from a few metres back
- The side wall, quite a tough build around natural rock formations but well done by GD
- The front wall from further back
- Front wall close up, notice the stones shaped to fit in natural fissures in the bedrock
